Rogjahman’s Gallery
Born in 1995 and originally from Fonsequistão, connected to Morro do Estadão in Niterói, Rog grew up facing the harsh realities of favela life: relatives involved in crime, and the tragic loss of cousins, brothers, and friends, victims of a Babylon system where the blood spilled is predominantly black. At the age of 8, he began drawing, and with the support of his parents, he nurtured his talent, steering away from the cycle of violence. By 10, he held his first exhibition as part of the Zumbi dos Palmares Movement. Deeply inspired by life on the periphery, his paintings tell true stories and depict everyday scenes. In 2020, after leading the “Freedom for Danilo Felix” movement to free a wrongfully imprisoned friend, he founded the artistic collective Muzikstown, which celebrates the resilience and unity of Black communities. This artistic residency will be his first trip outside Brazil.
